TPD Founded | 1980

The Personnel Department was founded with a unique mission: to put people first. We opened our doors on July 2, 1980, as the first temporary staffing agency to put an emphasis on retention by offering our Fieldstaff competitive pay, active performance management and 100 percent employer-paid benefits. From the very beginning, our focus on quality, retention and putting people first has allowed our clients to access the top talent they need, when they need it.

Service Expansion | 1980 – 2013

During our first three decades in business, our service offerings grew to include recruiting, executive search, payroll processing and much more. This evolution was driven by the needs of our clients and our commitment to being their full-service workforce partner.

Total Workforce Solution | 2013 and Beyond

In December of 2013, “The Personnel Department” became TPD, unifying our services into a Total Workforce Solution that includes recruiting, temporary staffing, payrolling services and much more.

Paul Tournier
President
Paul has more than 25 years of global experience in logistics and business management. Previously an Executive Partner at Accenture, Paul was responsible for that organization’s Global Freight and Logistics practice, working with more than 40 clients in 21 countries to achieve high performance. Before Accenture, Paul served for nine years in the Dutch Army as a Logistics Officer.

Leslie is TPD’s founder and current chair. Under her guidance, TPD has been recognized as a Best Employer, and the company has been honored with the Growth Award from the Women Presidents’ Organization. Leslie continues to take an active role on behalf of TPD in organizations and advisory boards.

Kelsey holds a Bachelor of Commerce from UBC. Her analytical, data-driven approach to growing TPD’s business allows the organization to be responsive and adaptive to system and process changes while focusing on business objectives. Kelsey plays a role in project onboarding and training, leveraging technology to ensure results will add value to TPD’s stakeholders.
